Following an official visit to The Gambia, West Africa, in November 2024, NOPSI leadership is set to establish a regional hub in the country by June 2025. This hub will oversee NOPSI’s operations across neighbouring West African countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo.

As part of its commitment to supporting Nigerians abroad, NOPSI will work in collaboration with Nigerian consulates in these countries to ensure that every Nigerian serving a prison sentence is visited by a NOPSI Prison Visitor. Additionally, the organisation will undertake the collection of comprehensive statistics on Nigerians in prison across the region.

A key focus will be establishing effective lines of communication between prisoners and their families in Nigeria, ensuring that connections are maintained, and support is provided during challenging times. This initiative underscores NOPSI’s dedication to upholding the rights and dignity of Nigerian citizens wherever they may be.
